MIKE WEINHOLTZ STATEMENT REGARDING TRUMP LEAK
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – October 7, 2016:
Mike Weinholtz, Democratic candidate for governor of Utah, has issued the following statement about recently leaked video and comments of Donald Trump:
“This is shameful and outrageous, but it’s dishonest to pretend that it’s surprising. Donald Trump has always been flagrantly racist and sexist, and it’s shameful for anyone to pretend that we didn’t all know it before now. I’m embarrassed and frankly infuriated that it took until now for Utah Governor Gary Herbert, Congressman Jason Chaffetz, Jon Huntsman Jr. and countless others to denounce Trump.
“This is belligerent hypocrisy and has no place in American society. To be totally honest, Donald Trump has no place as a candidate or leader in our democracy, and neither does any elected official who supported him.
“More importantly, I want to say one thing very clearly: the mistreatment of women is real. It is rampant, and it is wrong. We should be less outraged by one leaked video of Donald Trump and more outraged by the painful reality that women continue to experience inequality, mistreatment, and violence at every level of society. While those who endorsed Trump absolutely deserve strong rebuke for their poor judgement and shameless hypocrisy, I hope that this incident will generate more than words. I sincerely hope that this moment represents a turning point and that nation-wide we will commit more deeply and honestly to challenging this kind of blatant sexism and misogyny.”
There is no doubt that Donald Trump doesn’t represent Utah values so WHY did Governor Gary Herbert support him for months?
