PRESS RELEASE and VIDEO BELOW
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – October 11, 2016:
Mike Weinholtz, Democratic candidate for Governor of Utah, has announced a rally and press conference tonight at the Utah State Capitol to call for fair treatment of women in Utah and condemn recent failures by Gov. Gary Herbert, Donald Trump, and others.
“Donald Trump has brought to the forefront the painful reality that women still face mistreatment, inequality, and violence at every level of society,” said Mr. Weinholtz in a statement. “It’s deeply concerning that our current governor endorsed Trump for so long. Even after recent revelations the governor did nothing more than a single tweet saying he won’t vote for Trump. 140 characters is not taking a stand– it’s cowardly and inadequate. Long ago, the governor should have followed the example of Mitt Romney in rejecting Trump’s candidacy. We need leaders who are not afraid to actively challenge sexism and mistreatment of women. Governor Gary Herbert has failed at every turn to be that leader, and the women of Utah deserve better.”
At the rally, Mike will give a speech condemning Donald Trump’s ongoing mistreatment of women, condemning Gov. Gary Herbert’s failures to address women’s issues in Utah, and reveal his official policy proposal as governor to fight for equality and combat mistreatment of women.
