MIKE WEINHOLTZ CALLS PRESS CONFERENCE TO ADDRESS OPIODS AND MEDICAL CANNABIS IN UTAH
SALT LAKE CITY, October 18, 2016 – Mike Weinholtz’s wife, Donna Weinholtz, has been under investigation for possession of marijuana. As of 10 a.m., the case has been resolved under the jurisdiction of the Tooele County Justice Court. In a statement Tuesday morning, Mr. Weinholtz said:
“When I won the nomination for Democratic candidate for governor in April, I disclosed publicly that my wife was under investigation. I made that decision because I deeply believe in transparency. I intend to take that much-needed value into our state government. Out of respect for the legal process and the investigation, I declined to speak to the press about my wife’s situation, and I was not vocal about my position on medical cannabis. Our family is relieved to have resolution. Now that it is appropriate to do so, in that same spirit of transparency, I look forward to formally announcing my position on the issue of opiate abuse and the legalization of medical cannabis.”
Mike and Donna Weinholtz will each speak, addressing the resolution of Donna’s case, and the campaign’s official platform on opioid abuse and medical cannabis. The Weinholtz’s will joined by guests who will also speak to opioid abuse and medical cannabis, including Andrew McCullough, Libertarian candidate for Attorney General. The press conference will take place at campaign headquarters, from 3 p.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m., at Campaign Headquarters (193 W 2100 S Expwy,) with Mike answering questions immediately following. Mike will be available for comments until 4 p.m.
