SALT LAKE CITY — Businessman Mike Weinholtz announced his plans to run for Utah governor, seeking the Democratic party nomination.
At his former company, CHG Healthcare Services, Weinholtz declared his candidacy before a cheering crowd that included some of the Utah Democratic Party’s heavy-hitters. Sen. Jim Dabakis, D-Salt Lake City, introduced Weinholtz as having “Mitt Romney’s brain and Mother Teresa’s compassion.”
Weinholtz acknowledged he’s facing a significant challenge going up against incumbent Republican Gov. Gary Herbert, whom polls show has strong support.
