Shocking new information about drug overdose deaths in Utah. New data shows six people die in our state each week from overdosing on prescription opioids, making Utah the 4th highest state in the nation for drug overdose deaths. “I’ve been using since I was about 18,” said former addict Mitchell Blain. Blain’s story is a common one. He was injured in a motorcycle accident, prescribed opioids and became addicted. “Unfortunately the doctor gave me a lot of prescriptions for Oxycodone or Percocet and I never got tapered off. Once the prescriptions ended I was addicted to the substance.”
